Running for Ronnie

The memory of inspirational transplant recipient Ronnie McIntosh will be honoured at the inaugural Dundee 5k/10k race this month.

Local man Ronnie, whose determination and passion for running saw him to returning to the sport after having both legs amputated below the knee, will be remembered as runners take up the challenge at Camperdown Park on Sunday 20 October.

Ronnie passionately supported the organ donation campaign after receiving a kidney transplant in 2009 which in his own words 'transformed his life'.  It is hoped the race will raise awareness of organ donation and transplantation, with support from NHS Tayside's organ donation committee, Tayside Kidney Patients Association and REVIVAL, a local charity promoting organ donation.
